Wanted: Microbiologists, Molecular Biologists, Bioengineers

At Eligo, we want to kill bad bugs and bad bugs only. But bad bugs are not only diverse, but also often resistant to current treatments.

To address this problem, our vision at Eligo is to create an arsenal of eligobiotics capable of injecting our deadly but selective CRISPR/Cas system into a wide range of bacteria from the skin, gut, or lungs.

The development of eligobiotics relies on three processes that we developed in house using our synthetic biology platform: 

1. the automated isolation and screening of bacteriophages against target bacteria to select potential nanodelivery vector scaffolds

2. the rational design and engineering of bacterial strains to produce non-replicative nanodelivery vectors incorporating our CRISPR/Cas system

3. the optimization of vector protein structure to expand their host range and therefore broaden the delivery spectra of our eligobiotics.

Now that we have demonstrated the efficiency of the platform and obtained extremely promising in-vitro and in-vivo results using eligobiotics to eradicate target bacterial strains, we are recruiting a new cohort of scientists who can help us develop eligobiotics for bacterial species that we cannot target yet.

 
Target scientist profiles

- Expert in either molecular biology, microbiology, bacterial genetic engineering, phage genetics, phage biology, or synthetic biology

- Would be a big plus if experience with manipulation and genetics in one of these bacterial species: 
• Listeria spp.
• Haemophilus spp. 
• Corynebacterium spp. 
• Streptococcus spp.
• Clostridia spp. 
• Enterococcus spp. 
• Acinetobacter spp. 
• Fusobacterium spp. 
• Neisseria spp.


BUT most importantly, we are looking for creative, proactive, smart, critical, and hard-working scientists who want to join an international team of high-profile and friendly scientists working together to change the world.
